| | About Coaching What It Is Coaching is a powerful partnership between two capable individuals. The person who seeks coaching generally wants to improve their life in some specific way. Coaching is a unique relationship that provides an outside perspective, unconditional encouragement, resources and tools, and a safe, judgment-free environment for you to experiment with new ways of thinking, being, and acting. What It Is Not Coaching is not counseling nor therapy. In therapy, there is often an underlying assumption that the client is "broken" in some way, and need to be diagnosed and "healed." In coaching, the client is seen as whole, wise and resourceful (whether they realize it or not!). The coach is trained to listen and observe the client with the goal of uncovering new meaning and direction. The coach serves as an objective, equal partner who co-creates the relationship with the client to help them design strategies and get into action to achieve their goals. How It Works You, the client, bring to the coaching process your specific topic and desired outcome (what we call the coaching "agenda"). Everything in the relationship is about you: your ideas, your victories, your challenges, your commitment to positive change, your goals. As your coach, I'm 100 percent focused on all these things. I listen to your words, vocal inflection, energy level, thoughts, emotions, and actions. I hear what you say and what you don't say. I use evocative questions, observations, and feedback designed to help you: - listen to yourself more closely
- release limiting beliefs and patterns
- discover hidden truths
- make meaningful connections
- shift your perspective
- create and commit to powerful action steps.
My job is not to give advice or solve your problems. Instead, I help you uncover your own wisdom, cultivate your authentic self, and identify concrete ways to meet your goals. I also support you by holding you gently accountable for the action you commit to. Is It Right for You? Coaching can be many things: explorative, pragmatic, emotional, magical. Like any relationship, coaching is unique to the individuals engaged in the process. The real power of coaching is in the purpose, commitment, and energy you bring to the relationship—the more you "show up," the more powerful coaching will be for you.
